Qué esperar

The production joins romantic intensity to large historical sets and expressive visual design. Its lovers are repeatedly framed against institutions that make private feeling a political offence.

Cómo entrar en la película

Keep Ivan and Tamara in view while uniforms and regimes change around them. The revolution enlarges a class barrier the romance establishes early.

A tener en cuenta

The film keeps giving the lovers enormous rooms and almost no safe space. I watch intimacy survive by becoming smaller and more private as history grows louder.
