What to expect
Henri Fescourt gives the novel room for duration and consequence. SFFILM’s 3 May 2015 screening listed the rediscovered film at 218 minutes, with music by Marc-Olivier Dupin. Its account of Lenny Borger’s work identifies incomplete Czech distribution prints found in Prague. This screening record is separate from the 223-minute catalogue listing below.
How to ease in
Plan more than one sitting and keep a short list of names. The pleasure lies in watching identities and obligations accumulate, not in rushing from imprisonment to revenge.
Heads-up

Revenge stories often make recognition instantaneous. I like how time lets Dantès’s new identity become a world he has built and may no longer be able to leave.
