Was dich erwartet
The predicament is direct, while its presentation offers another source of pleasure. Nomura combines a yakuza story with noir influences, a western-inflected score and a willingness to experiment with form. Follow the threats around the hit man, then notice how music and the arrangement of a confrontation shape their force. The stylistic borrowing is a way into the film, rather than a demand to recognise every reference.
Tipps für den Einstieg
Begin with the hit man's position between rival gangs. Keep track of who now regards him as a liability. Let the score and changes in space guide your attention instead of trying to memorise every detail of the criminal organisation.
