Rashomon builds a mystery from accounts that overlap, contradict, and reshape one another. The question is not simply which version is correct, but how pride, fear, and desire enter every act of remembering. Akira Kurosawa gives this uncertainty physical energy through moving light, restless camera work, and forceful performances. The result is philosophical without losing the pull of a gripping story.

Do not rush to appoint one witness as the solution. The repeated event is easier to follow if you notice what changes in posture, confidence, and point of view rather than trying to build a single perfect timeline. The ruined gate frames the larger conversation, while the forest accounts are competing performances. Let the contradictions accumulate before deciding what they mean.
観る前の注意
The sunlight in the forest is almost too beautiful for the story being told there. That tension keeps me alert: every account tries to arrange shame and courage into a flattering shape, while the camera finds movement none of the speakers can fully own. I leave less interested in solving the case than in noticing how urgently people edit themselves.
